Banana Bread

I know its been a really long time since I’ve showed up here, but I decided to come back to write a recipe that some people asked for in my Instagram.

I’ve done it a couple of times and it turned out great! I love it because it has whole wheat flour, brown sugar, and an ingredient that I’ve been trying to add to my daily diet: Coconut oil!

Here it goes!!!

Ingredients:

  • 7 tablespoons of coconut oil (or canola oil)
  • 1 cup of flour (regular)
  • 1 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar
  • 4 whole eggs
  • 2 bananas (mixed and “crushed”)
  • 1 cup of oat flakes
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • Oat flakes to sprinkle on top!
  • PS: you can also add raisins, raspberries, and nuts. It also turns out amazing!

1. Preheat you oven to 180°C

2. Add all of the ingredients above in the order they are listed, mixing the batter by hand

3. Transfer the mix to a greased and floured bread mold (or cake!)

4. Sprinkle the oat flakes and put it in the oven for about 45 min, and enjoy!!!

hello & goodbye (for a little while!!!)

Even though I haven’t written in a really long time, I have not forgotten about my baby: my blog, Prying Owl. Some may think that I have, but the truth is I think about it every single day. I came by just to update that I will be coming back in a short while, with tons of posts, news, and updates.

Just to justify my disappearing, I’d like to explain to all of you why this sudden abandonment. My life changed completely when I got engaged last year and moved from Brazil to Portugal. I decided to begin blogging since I had to quit my former job in order to move and wasn’t able to work here, so Prying Owl became my full-time job.

Since then a lot has changed, I’ve gotten married, enrolled in a jewelry course, and applied for residency which as many of you might imagine, takes a ton of time and work to deal with all the bureaucracy. So getting my life organized ended up substituting the blog as my number one priority. And to pile up on that, me and my husband have been super busy with our new home which has been under construction.

All these factors have made it really hard to actually sit in front of the computer and write. But things are slowly falling into place and I hope that in a couple of months everything will be resolved and I can dedicate myself once again to my blog!!!

Another home piece in this week’s “currently wanting” section. It is inevitable since I’ve been searching for so many home products, from small appliances to dinnerware. I came across this very cute tea-towel with royal blue illustrations by Liz Temple Wells.

Available at Haus for £8.50 GBP (approx €10 $14).

lovely pattern

I came across this image the other day and I can’t remember where. I fell in love with it for so many reasons: the dog, the amazing zebra print blouse, and the combination of the blouse with the leopard thin belt. Such a chic combination that leaves us wanting to see the entire outfit and find the story behind this picture. Is this her dog? Who is she? Where is her blouse from? Well….we will have to imagine…

dream shoe closet

To begin the weekend, nothing better than an inspiring image of this amazing shoe closet. Such a dream come true…

currently wanting

Since I am in “shopping for the new house” mode, this week I am currently wanting a Seletti white Box from their Estetico Quotidiano line. I actually want the entire line, but this piece is just perfect. I love how simple yet sophisticated it is and how beautiful it would look on top of the table full of fruits.

Available in two sizes and prices begin at €150.

stubbs & wootton

It’s been a couple of seasons since the loafers have been creeping into everyone’s wardrobe and becoming the go-to shoe to the most stylish women out there. I for one am a huge fan of the style and since I’m always wearing flat shoes, they are perfect!

Stubbs and Wootton create hand-made slippers in Palm Beach, Florida, which are then sold around the world. Although prices are a little high ($400 a pair), their product have the highest quality and comfort standards.
